In 2017, during the height of popularity for Despacito, 19 tracks mainly in Spanish were included in the Billboard Top 100. By 2020 it will have 41 hits that fall into this category. Following the time that Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017 popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton performers. Drake and Bad Bunny worked together on MIA (2018) and Madonna teamed up with Maluma on Medellin in the year 2019. A few performers of reggaeton lamented the trend towards popular music by 2020.
